The U.S. Army Engineer Design and Research Center recently unveiled a new headquarters building in Vicksburg, Mississippi. One innovative feature of the building’s design was a unique videowall that would feature prominently in the center of the expansive, light-filled atrium.
The pavilion of 14 LG OLED Panels own as the “Claw” is now the main focus of that atrium. The Claw also compliments two 30 Panel LG Video Walls that extend up the atrium’s two sides.
M3 Technology Group, a Systems Integrator based in Nashville Tennessee, was awarded this innovative project. A requirement stipulated that the videowall should be easy to disconnect and move. With this requirement in mind, M3 Technologies conceived a robust and efficient way to patch fiber cables.
Neutrik’s 24-channel opticalCON MTP® 24 LITE, is perfect for applications such as this one that demand quality, semi-rugged fiber connections for patching and permanent installations. M3’s project manager, Dustin Waldrop said “It was immediately evident that the MTP® 24 fiber was the solution that made sense. The product allows many signals from a Crestron DM Switch in the auditorium to travel through a small conduit to the Claw’s video wall. We used Neutrik’s opticalCON MTP® 24 LITE for patching so the entire unit could easily be disconnected and relocated, if necessary” he said.
Major Custom Cable out of Jackson Missouri, one of Neutrik’s Certified opticalCON® Cable Assemblers, offered design assistance for the MTP® 24 fiber runs.* With the requirements of long cable runs, multiple patch points, and conversion from MTP® 24 to SC fiber connectors, the use of MTP® 24 LITE ensures that the signal remains robust and high quality when it feeds the video wall processing units.
This project came to fruition through the efforts of the U.S. Army Engineer and Development Center, M3 Technology Group, and Neutrik USA. The innovative videowall is an excellent application of Neutrik’s opticalCON® LITE product group which includes two, four, twelve and 24 channel fiber solutions.
