Each DS-3 will carry up to 672 voice channels multiplexed together and each DS-4 will carry up to 4032 voice channels.
DS-3/4 cables are used in the telecommunications networks to interconnect Transmission Equipment and Digital Cross Connect (DSX) systems together. DSX to Multiplexer, DSX to Lightwave Systems or Digital Radio to Multiplexer.
